Prof. C N R Rao gets France's highest civilian award

Prof. C N R Rao, conferred the title "Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur"
Bangalore: Prof. C N R Rao, Linus Pauling Research Professor, has been conferred the title "Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur" (Knight of the Legion of Honour) by France, the highest civilian award given by that Government.

The award will be presented to him shortly, according to the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, of which he is the honorary President.

Meanwhile, Prof. Rao was also named the 'Chemistry Pioneer of 2005' by the American Institute of Chemists, a statement from the Centre said today (Jun 17, 2005).
