Counselling for Engineering seats from June 27 Saturday, June 18 2005 16:00 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Karnataka Government today (Jun 18, 2005) announced that the Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell would commence counselling of students for admission to engineering courses from June 27.
The process will continue till July 16, Principle Secretary to Higher Education Shobha Nambishan and Medical Education Department Secretary D V Guruprasad told reporters in Bangalore.
As per the agreement reached by the Government with private engineering colleges, seats would be shared in the 65:35 ratio (65 per cent of Government and 35 per cent for private), they said.
They said the Government planned to commence counselling for selection of students for medical and dental courses from July 18 on the basis of 50:50 seat sharing formula.
The admission process for all professional courses would be completed by September 15, Nambishan said.
Guruprasad refuted reports in a section of the press that the Medical Council of India (MCI) has rejected the State's request for granting recognition to the six new medical colleges planned to be established during 2005-06.
He said the MCI was yet to take a view on the issue and hoped that the colleges proposed in Mandya, Hassan and Belgaum get a green signal.
In all the Government would get 1827 medical seats from 27 colleges, he said.
