Prime Minister condoles cricketer Mushtaq's death

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Jun 18, 2005) expressed deep shock and grief over the passing away of former Indian cricket captain Mushtaq Ali.

In a message, Singh described Mushtaq as one of the finest all-rounders who represented the country with great distinction.

The Prime Minister said that Mushtaq would be remembered for his "stylish batting, quality spin bowling and for carrying on highest traditions of sportsmanship".

The 90-year-old, who was the first Indian to score a Test century on foreign soil, died in Indore early this morning.
