BJP to organise agitation against fuel price hike

Chennai: Describing the petroleum price hike as "anti-farmer and anti-poor", the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (Jun 20, 2005) said it would go on a nationwide agitation against the hike.

"This face of the United Progressive Alliance Government now stands thoroughly exposed", BJP vice president M Venkaiah Naidu told PTI in Chennai.

Farmers, who were already suffering due to natural calamities, power shortages and unremunerative prices, would be the worst sufferers due to the hike, he said.

BJP would organise a nationwide agitation against the price hike, he said.
