India-Pak Foreign Ministers to meet in September Monday, June 20 2005 20:25 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Islamabad:
The second round of composite dialogue process between India and Pakistan to discuss Kashmir and six other contentious issues is set to conclude by August this year, which would be followed by a meeting of Foreign Ministers and Foreign Secretaries from both sides in September, a top Pakistani official said today (Jun 20, 2005).
Giving a calendar of events for the talks, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Jalil Abbas Jilani told reporters in Islamabad that talks on nuclear and conventional CBMs would be held in the first week of August in New Delhi instead of July.
The postponement has been made at the request of India. Similarly talks on Wullar barrage in Jammu and Kashmir would be held on June 28 and 29 in New Delhi instead of June 24 and 25.
The Secretaries of Cultural Ministries of both countries would meet to discuss the friendly exchanges in July followed by talks between Interior Ministry officials on Drug Trafficking and Terrorism and meeting between Commerce Secretaries.
The second round of composite dialogue process would be completed by August and the Foreign Secretaries would meet to review its outcome in September, followed by a meeting between Foreign Ministers, he said.
The first round of Composite Dialogue process held last year failed to yield any results following which the two countries began the second round.
