Government likely to replace over a dozen Governors
Tuesday, June 21 2005 22:33 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government is likely to replace Governors of over a dozen States soon and the exercise is likely to be completed after the reshuffle of the Union Council of Ministers.

Hectic consultations are on within the ruling Congress to finalise the list of Governors, informed sources said.

They said some of Cabinet Ministers are likely to be moved to the States as Governors while some Governors could be brought to Parliament through vacant Rajya Sabha seats for their induction in the cabinet, which is likely to be expanded this weekend.

The sources said some of the State Governors, who had completed their five-year term, are also likely to be replaced.
