The National Development Council (NDC) meeting will be held on June 27-28 to review the progress of Food for Work Programme and Sampoorna Gramin Rozghar Yojna, among other things, Agriculture, Food and Public Distribution Minister Sharad Pawar said in New Delhi today (Jun, 21, 2005).
"Today's meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was in regard to the NDC meeting to be held on June 27-28," Pawar told PTI.
He said some of the states have suggested change in the ratio of 50 per cent each as cash component and food grains given under the FWP and SGRY schemes.
Pawar said these States wanted the cash component under these schemes to be increased and "they want the money portion to be more".
The Minister said today's meeting also attended by Finance Minister P Chidambaram and senior officials remained inconclusive and no decision had been taken on raising the
cash component.
He said it would have to be decided at the State level by respective Chief Ministers during the NDC meeting.
According to official sources, the meeting also touched upon the prevailing food grain and monsoon situation.
