Jayalalithaa 's case posted for orders on June 27 Thursday, June 23 2005 12:30 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
The special court trying the disproportionate asset cases filed against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and four others today posted the case for orders on June 27 on a petition praying for clubbing of both the cases for single trial.
When the court met for the day, Narendra, counsel for T T V Dinakaran, one of the accused in London Hotel case, along with Jayalalithaa, sought an adjournment on the ground that his senior N Kumar could not be present today (Jun 22, 2005)) for arguing the case.
To Narendra's plea for a day's adjournment, special court judge A S Pachhapure announced that he was posting the case for orders on June 27 and Dinakaran's counsel could argue on any of the days prior to that.
Pachhapure, who had posted the case for orders yesterday (Jun 22, 2005), however, allowed arguments by the defense counsel N Jyoti, who pleaded that he has to bring certain facts before the court in the light of June 20 Madras High Court order, which disposed off a petition filed by Ilavarasi, one of the accused, seeking clarifications on its earlier order on consolidation of cases.
Jyoti reiterated his plea for consolidation of the Rs 66.65 crore asset case and London Hotel case for trial. Public Prosecutor B V Acharya opposed it saying since the trial in the disproportionate asset case has reached stage, the cases cannot be clubbed now.
