Differences in BJP will not have any impact on NDA Sunday, June 26 2005 17:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Convenor George Fernandes today (Jun 26, 2005) asserted that the 'differences' in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the largest constituent of the opposition alliance, would not have any impact on the NDA and its future.
Dismissing suggestions about the differences in BJP affecting the NDA, Fernandes said in Bangalore, "What infighting (in BJP). No infighting. There are some differences
on some issues. It does not impact on the NDA at all".
Answering a question, Fernandes said, "this party (BJP) has problems. We are concerned", but hastened to add that" they will sort them out". "Do not parties break up and come together? It happens in every party".
Fernandes replied that with an emphatic "no" when asked if the developments in BJP would affect the NDA's future.
He denied having said that the developments in BJP would impact NDA. "I have never made that statement. Respect for the environment'. While I am keen that the project should be implemented, I have particularly insisted that this should be done only after all the genuine environmental concerns are properly addressed and the project launch can be taken up only thereafter", Jayalalithaa said.
"The great tragedy is that the Ministry of environment and forests has been bulldozed into according the clearance, even without waiting for the no-objection certificate from the Tamil Nadu government, although this is mandatory required under the regulations framed by the ministry," the Chief Minister said.
