New Delhi: A notification would be issued tomorrow (Jun 27, 2005) to elect ten members to the Rajya Sabha on July 14 as six members from West Bengal, three from Gujarat and one from Goa, including Political Secretary to Congress President Ahmed Patel, are retiring.

RSP (Rashtriya Samajwadi Party) leader Abani Roy, former Army Chief Shankar Roy Chowdhury and former Union Minister Eduardo Faleiro are prominent among those retiring.

Lalitbhai Mehta and Savitaben Sharda (both BJP) from Gujarat and Chandrakala Pandey, Jiban Roy, Chittabrata Majumdar and Sarala Maheswari, all CPM (Communist Party of India Marxist) from West Bengal are the other retiring members.

Renomination of Patel by Congress from Gujarat and Abani Roy by RSP from West Bengal appeared certain in political circles.
