Kerala Government today (Jun 26, 2005) issued order banning use of mobile phones, holding of fashion shows and cinematic dances in Educational institutions in the State.
Traditional cultural programmes could be conducted in educational institutions after it was accepted in the ethics committee of the respective institutions, an official release said in Thiruvananthapuram.
Mobile phones should not be used in schools and higher secondary institutions. Teachers also should not take mobile phones to classes. Mobile phones should be switched off at class rooms and campus of the higher educational institutions.
Heads of the institutions and ethics committee have been given power to take action against teachers and students who violate the rule, the release said.
The department head would have the power to de-recognise the institutions, which did not implement the order, it was stated.
Review meeting on ban at Minister's and secretary level would be held once in two months, release added.
