Court to decide on July 2 on cases against Advani
Monday, June 27 2005 16:49 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Indore: A local court today (Jun 27, 2005) fixed July 2 to decide whether cases of 'treason and defamation' could be filed against L K Advani in response to a petition that the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) President had 'insulted the nation by terming Mohammad Ali Jinnah as secular'.

In the petition before Judicial Magistrate First Class (JFMC) Narendra Jain, social worker Vijay Sonwane alleged that Advani's statements amounted to treason.

The petition, filed on June 25, sought registration of a case against Advani under various sections of IPC, petitioner's counsel Shailendra Dwivedi told sources in Indore.

"Statements of Sonwane were recorded by JFMC this morning", Dwivedi added.
