Agartala:
A helicopter of Bangladesh Army has "violated" Indian air space at different places in Sabroom sub-division of South Tripura district, Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF) S K Dutta said today (Jun 27, 2005).
"The Bangladesh Army helicopter entered into Indian territory over the Chhotakhil border outpost in South Tripura district yesterday (Jun 26, 2005)," the BSF IG told sources adding, "This was the second time that a Bangladesh Army helicopter violated Indian airspace within two months".
Dutta said the incident was reported to Indian Air Force (IAF) for investigation because it is a standard practice to report all cases of airspace violation to the Air Force for necessary action.
The motive is not clear, he said adding that all the border outposts in Tripura have been put on alert to report to the headquarters in case of any further violation of airspace.
Earlier on April 22 when there was exchange of fire between BSF and Bangladeshi Rifles (BDR) at the areas under Kathalchhari border outpost of the district over erection of border fencing a helicopter of Bangladesh Army had violated Indian airspace.
