Left decision is not a perpetual one: Jyoti Basu Tuesday, June 28 2005 18:31 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kolkata:
Veteran CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) Politburo member Jyoti Basu today (Jun 28, 2005) said that the decision by Left parties to stay away from the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Co-ordination Committee meetings was not a perpetual one.
"The boycott is not a permanent feature and I hope that there will be further discussions between our party leaders and Congress President Sonia Gandhi when the she returns (to Delhi from Shimla)," Basu told reporters after attending a State party meeting in Kolkata.
Left parties on June 26 decided to suspend participation in the UPA-Left Coordination Committee meetings accusing the Government of the 'first serious violation of the CMP' with its decision to disinvest 10 per cent equity in BHEL.
The Marxist leader also said, "They (the UPA Government) is not listed on the Government so that they realise that what they are doing is not correct," the CPM Politburo member said.
