Left will stick to stand on UPA meetings: Karat
Tuesday, June 28 2005 16:34 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Lucknow: CPM (Communist Party of India Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat today (Jun 28, 2005) said the Left parties would stick to its decision to boycott UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Coordination Committee meetings in protest against the proposed disinvestment of the "navratna" BHEL.

"The boycott will continue, though we shall wait for UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to return from Shimla for further discussions on the issue," Karat told reporters in Lucknow.

He emphasised that the Left would at no cost accept the disinvestment of "navratna" PSUs in the country.

Karat attended the State secretariat meeting of the CPM Uttar Pradesh unit today and is due to take part in the State committee meeting over the coming two days.
