Centre and all the States yesterday (Jun 28, 2005) unanimously decided that executive, legislative and judicial reforms for good governance should be implemented in the "right earnest" and modern technologies increasingly integrated in the process.
"All of them agreed that good governance reforms, agenda is a need of the day. All of them were unanimous that executive, legislative, judicial and other suggested reforms for good governance should be implemented in right earnest," Home Minister Shivraj Patil told reporters while giving details of the outcome of the ninth meeting of Inter-State Council in New Delhi.
The Chief Ministers also felt that modern technologies should be increasingly integrated in Government process especially with a view to augmenting the efficiencies and efficacy of the delivery system at the Government-citizen interface, he said.
The participants sought constitution of a commission to review the new technologies that can be adopted by India to increase the efficiency level of the Government, Patil said.
Presiding over the meeting, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yesterday said that it had become essential that Governments function in an efficient, effective and accountable manner.
Expressing satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting, Singh exuded confidence that with the cooperation of the Union and Chief Ministers, India shall succeed in emerging as a world economic power to be reckoned with in the coming years.
