Vigilance bureau to take Gautam Goswami on remand

Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) today (Jun 30, 2005) petitioned the special court in Patna to take former Patna district magistrate Gautam Goswami on remand for seven days for interrogation in connection with the multi-crore flood relief scam.

''We have filed a petition in the court to allow us to take Goswami on remand for seven days for interrogation, '' Neelmani, additional director general of vigilance bureau told sources in Patna. Hearing on the petition was likely to be taken up by the designated vigilance judge tomorrow (July 1, 2005), he said.

Goswami surrendered before the special court in Patna, which remanded him to judicial custody to be lodged in the high-security Beur jail on the outskirts of the State capital till July 6.
