Srinagar: Six persons, including a teenager, two Hizbul Mujahideen militants and a Village Defence Committee member, were killed and three CRPF personnel injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said in Srinagar today (July 1, 2005).

A 15-year-old boy, Mohammad Hamir, was killed on the spot in an IED explosion near the Poonch-Mendhar road in Poonch district, the sources said.

The explosion took place when the boy was planting the improvised device allegedly given by militants, the sources said adding security convoys that pass through the area were the apparent target of the militants.

The sources said three CRPF jawans were injured when ultras targetted their vehicle with an IED, planted on the main road at Wanpoh near an under construction railway bridge along Qazigund-Baramulla track, in Anantnag district.

The blast took place early today when the CRPF personnel were patrolling the area, 60 kms from here ripping apart a Gypsy and wounding three of its occupants.

The injured jawans were rushed to a hospital from where one of them was discharged after first aid, the sources said.

Pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit claimed responsibility for the IED attack on the CRPF vehicle.

In another incident, the militants detonated an IED on a roadside tin-shed at Tapper-Pattan, 27 kms from here on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, this afternoon.

However, no one was injured in the explosion, which was targetted on a security convoy, which crossed the highway minutes after the incident, the sources said.
