Kulkarni in news again over Advani's Jinnah remarks Friday, July 1 2005 13:12 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Sudhendra Kulkarni, who was at the centre of a storm over Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president L K Advani's Jinnah remarks recently, is again in the news today (July 1, 2005) with reports suggesting that he had resigned as party's National Secretary, but he denied them.
Television channels showed an unsigned letter purportedly written by Kulkarni to Advani in which he said that he was quitting the post in view of the controversy that he was behind Advani's speeches in Pakistan during his visit.
The channels also claimed Advani had rejected his resignation.
Asked to comment on the news reports, Kulkarni insisted that he had "not resigned".
"I have not resigned. This is baseless news," he told sources on phone from Mumbai.
When asked about the letter, he said, "I keep writing letters when I am out of Delhi. I do not know which letter is being cited but the fact is I have not resigned."
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) spokesman Prakash Javadekar, meanwhile, said, "I spoke to Kulkarni this morning and he denied writing any (resignation) letter to Advani. Neither he submitted his resignation nor does he intend to do so."
