Seeking to mollify RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), which had attacked his remarks on M A Jinnah, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) President L K Advani today (July 1, 2005) said the Sangh Parivar fountainhead had played important role in the fight to restore democracy during the Emergency.
"The Jan Sangh and the RSS have played a significant role in restoration of democracy in India," Advani said in Bhopal.
Referring to BJP's stand during the Emergency and Ram temple movement, the BJP President said, "People should be made aware of these incidents which had helped BJP to emerge stronger. The Bharatiya Jana Sangh and the RSS had played a vital role in strengthening Indian democracy."
The BJP chief, who was here to address the State party executive, said the party would strive to secure justice to Hindus living in Pakistan and Bangladesh. "BJP will strive to ensure justice to Hindus in neighbouring countries of Pakistan and Bangladesh".
Advani said BJP still believed in the ideology of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee regarding Jammu and Kashmir and, "Was determined to bring about a change in the Indian political environment and give it a new direction".
