Party hasn't asked me to quit: Sudheendra Kulkarni
Saturday, July 2 2005 17:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: A day after his letter offering to step down became public, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) national secretary Sudheendra Kulkarni today (July 2, 2005) said he has not been asked by the party leadership to resign.

"I have not resigned and I have not been asked to resign," he told sources in Mumbai. Asked about his two-page letter addressed to party president L K Advani attacking RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad), Kulkarni said, "I do not wish to discuss the contents of my letter through the media."

While offering to step down, "If (his) senior colleagues wanted," Kulkarni in his letter written last week has stressed on the need to recast BJP-RSS relationship and that BJP must distance itself completely from the "extremist elements" in the VHP.
