Goswami puzzles vigilance team during interrogation Sunday, July 3 2005 11:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
High-profile former Patna district magistrate Gautam Goswami, currently on vigilance remand, was 'puzzling' the vigilance investigation bureau team led by its additional director-general, Neelmani, in course of interrogation on the multi-crore flood-relief scam.
''Goswami has not made any startling revelation so far. He always asks what will happen to his two small kids and other family members?'' a senior official of the bureau confided while talking to sources in Patna.
''But we are sure that Goswami will give us vital information and all others involved in the criminal swindle of Government money will be nabbed as we know the methods how to handle such a person,'' he said adding 'Goswami is only partly cooperating'.
The designated vigilance judge, Jitendra Mohan Sharma, had yesterday allowed the bureau to take Goswami on five days' remand for interrogation.
When contacted, Neelmani said that all possible medical help was being arranged for Goswami in accordance with the directive of the vigilance court.
''The doctors from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiology also attended Goswami,'' he said.
Security measures were tightened around the State Vigilance Bureau headquarters here where a large number of policemen and the Bihar Military Police personnel were deployed.
Goswami after evading arrest for a month, had on June 30 surrendered before the special court here after the Patna High Court rejected his anticipatory bail application in connection with the case.
