Thackeray announces Rane's expulsion from Shiv Sena

Mumbai: Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray today (July 3, 2005) announced the expulsion of party leader Narayan Rane from the party.

"If Rane has any self-esteem left then he should also resign from his assembly seat because he was elected to the legislature on the Sena ticket," Thackeray told reporters after addressing a meeting of Sena legislators and office-bearers in Mumbai today.

The new leader of Opposition in the State Assembly would be announced later, Thackeray said.
