The condition of Union Chemical and Fertilisers Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, who suffered a mild heart attack, is improving, sources at the hospital where he is undergoing treatment said today (July 4, 2005).
Paswan, currently, is in the intensive care unit at Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre (EHIRC) in New Delhi and routine tests conducted on him indicated improvement in his health, they said.
Initial 72 hours are crucial and he has come out of that but things would take time to become normal, they said.
On his discharge, sources said, "We would be keeping him here at least for a week."
The 59-year leader suffered a mild heart attack in Patna on July 2 following which he was brought to EHIRC by air. A team of doctors from the hospital had gone to Patna and accompanied him.
