TRS likely to part ways with Congress in AP Monday, July 4 2005 12:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Hyderabad:
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), an ally of the ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh, is likely pull out of the government citing its 'anti-Telangana policies'.
Amidst speculation over parting of ways, a TRS delegation is meeting the state Governor Sushilkumar Shinde in Hyderbad, on Monday afternoon (July 4,2005).
While the Telangana party has not officially made any statement on its move, a junior TRS minister A Chandrasekhar said "We will resign from the cabinet as a mark of protest against Anti-Telangana policies and also the growing fake police encounters".
The TRS, which has been at loggerhead with Congress on Telangana statehood issue, has two ministers in the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) cabinet at the Centre and six in the state.
The state TRS Ministers had met yesterday (July 3,2005) their party supremo and Union Labour Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Delhi and reviewed their continuance in the government.
The meeting decided that the state Ministers should pull out of the Rajasekhar Reddy government to mount pressure on the UPA government on formation of Telangana state.
The move is also seen in political circles as a protest against the growing incidents of killing of Naxalites in police encounters.
The July one encounter, in which a top Naxalites leader Venkateswarulu alias Riaz was killed, provided the triggering point for TRS which dubbed the incident as `fake police encounter' and demanded judicial probe.
