Ahmedabad: Eleven persons were arrested from the city during a combing operation today (July 5, 2005) and a huge cache of arms was seized from their possession, official sources said here.

"Eleven persons have been arrested and nearly 30 weapons including several pistols and rifles have been seized from their possession," police told

Officials said those arrested were not terrorists but were miscreants and the arrests were made during extensive combing operations being conducted in the city as the Annual Rathyatra is scheduled on July 8.

Further details of the arrest and the seizures made would be given later, police said. Gujarat is already on a high alert after terrorists stormed the makeshift Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya this morning.
