Chennai: The VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) today (July 5, 2005) demanded the resignation of Union Minister Shivraj Patil and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, owning moral responsibility for 'serious security lapses' in the Ram Janmabhoomi at Ayodhya.

VHP international Vice President S Vedantam, in a statement in Chennai, said the three-tier security in Ayodhya meant nothing for the terrorists. It was now proved that terrorists could easily reach the site.

"The vote bank politics and appeasement of Muslims with reservation by various political parties are the real reasons for the growing terrorist trends", he said adding that the VHP had been crying themselves hoarse for years about the growing terrorist activities practically in every State.
