New Delhi:
An alert was sounded today (July 5, 2005) in major capitals and sensitive towns across the country following the terror attack on the makeshift temple in Ayodhya this morning.
Security was particularly tightened around important temples and other places of worship across the country in view of the targeting of the makeshift shrine where once the disputed Babri Masjid structure stood and the possible repercussions it may have.
In Delhi, security was beefed up near the temples and the RSS headquarters in Jandewalan area in a crowded area in the central part.
Additional personnel of police and para-military forces have been mobilised in Delhi and patrolling has been intensified.
Security beefed up in Mumbai
Mumbai: In Mumbai, the scene of serial blasts and riots after the December 1992 demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya, security was beefed up. Additional forces have been deployed at prominent temples and other places of worship.
Alert sounded in Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal: "An alert has been sounded all over the State and district Collectors and Superintendents of Police have been directed to tighten security measures", Principal Secretary Home Bhagirath Prasad told sources in Bhopal.
Police keeping vigil on sensitive areas in WB
Kolkata: High alert was sounded across West Bengal with the police keeping vigil on communally sensitive areas following a terrorist attack in the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi complex at Ayodhya.
Alert across Bihar following Ayodhya attack
Patna: An alert has been sounded across Bihar in view of today's terrorist attack at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, police said.
All districts have been put on alert following the incident and patrolling intensified in communally sensitive areas, IG (Headquarters) Krishna Chaudhary told.
Precautions taken to maintain peace in AP
Hyderabad: All precautions have been taken to maintain peace in the
State, police sources said in Hyderabad.
The city police is fully geared up to take up any eventuality and situation is not at all alarming here.

Situation in TN peaceful; police on alert
Chennai: The situation in Tamil Nadu remains "peaceful" and police personnel are on high alert, in the light of the militant attack at the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi complex at Ayodhya.
Security has also been tightened at airports and railway stations, airport and railway sources said.
The security has been tightened during the last two days in the city and rural areas in view of the visit of the President, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, who is arriving tonight and attending various functions till tomorrow (July 6, 2005) evening.
Security forces kept on attention in Assam
Guwahati: A high alert has been sounded across Assam and security forces kept on attention with special attention given to communally sensitive areas in the wake of the terrorist attack in Ayodhya.
Additional forces had also been mobilised across the State, he said adding top police officials in the headquarters here and in the districts were monitoring the situation.
