K'taka: BJP protests 'dastardly attack' on Ayodhya
Wednesday, July 6 2005 14:41 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bangalore: Protesting the "dastardly attack" at the Ramjanambhoomi complex at Ayodhya, BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) Karnataka unit today (July 6, 2005) blamed the "soft approach" of the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government towards terrorism as being responsible for "such misadventure".

As part of the nationwide protests called by the party, a delegation of State BJP leaders submitted a memorandum to Governor T N Chaturvedi, alleging that the UPA Government's "mishandling of security concerns" has allowed a "sudden spurt" of terrorist violence in the country.

The BJP also demanded that both the Union Home Minister and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh should immediately resign owning "moral responsibility" for the incident.

The delegation, accompanied by legislators, comprised BJP State President Jagadish Shettar, National General Secretary Ananth Kumar and Opposition leader in the Assembly B S Yediyurappa.

The party is holding a protest rally later in the day. No bandh call has been given.

Life remained normal in Bangalore and elsewhere in the State, where the Police remained on full alert in the wake of yesterday's attack by terrorists.

Security has been tightened in sensitive places in the city, which is home to many important installations.
