BJP, RSS trying to whip up communal passions: CPML Friday, July 8 2005 18:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Charging the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) with trying to incite communal passions in the wake of terror attack in Ayodhya, the CPML (Liberation) today (July 8, 2005) said nobody should be allowed to foment communal trouble.
"On one hand BJP president goes to Pakistan where he praises Mohammed Ali Jinnah as a secular person and describes the pulling down of Babri Masjid as the saddest day of his life and on the other hand he visits Ayodhya today with the sole intention of whipping up communal passions to reap political benefit," CPML general secretary Dipanker Bhattacharya told a press conference.
He also slammed the Congress for reportedly terming the attack on the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi complex as 'an assault on the nation's pride' and said it was aimed at appeasing a particular section.
He, however, chose not to elaborate on which section the Congress was trying to appease.
The CPML leader described the incident as 'very serious and condemnable' but alleged, 'The RSS, which claims itself a social and cultural organisation, is trying to use it (the attack) to fan communalism.
"This so called socio-cultural organisation during its recent meeting at Surat did not care to discuss the hardships caused by floods in Gujarat and devoted most of its time to deliberating on its relations with BJP and Advani's remarks on Jinnah....the people should be wary of such organisations," he said.
