RSS makes veiled attack on BJP President Advani Saturday, July 9 2005 14:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
In a scathing but indirect attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President L K Advani, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today (July 9, 2005) said it has taken serious note of the 'ideological erosion, behavioural misdemeanour and violation of discipline' by functionaries of like-minded organisations and will soon convey its reservation to the concerned people.
Disclosing the deliberations of the recently concluded closed door meeting of RSS provincial organisers in Surat, RSS spokesman Ram Madhav, in a statement today (July 9, 2005) said that serious concern was expressed over the ideological erosion, behavioural misdemeanour, and violation of organisational discipline with impunity by some functionaries of a couple of like-minded organisations.
Without naming anyone, the statement said, "The Sangh has taken serious note of this and our elders will soon talk to the concerned people and convey the Sangh's reservations."
The statement also said, "several imaginary stories have appeared in the media about the proceedings in Surat."
Media reports had suggested that Advani would be asked to step down ahead of the party's national executive in Chennai later this month.
According to sources, the provincial organisers had taken strong exception to Advani's controversial remarks in Pakistan on the country's founder Mohammed Ali Jinnah, Akhand Bharat and the Ayodhya demolition 'which questioned the very ideology of the Sangh and created confusion in the minds of the cadres.'
The Sangh is also understood to have taken strong exception to the 'tone and tenor' of the language used by people like former BJP National Secretary Sudheendra Kulkarni as also Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders including Praveen Togadia.
