Sonia cancels her Rae Bareli tour; leaves for Delhi

Rae Bareli: Congress President Sonia Gandhi today (July 9, 2005) cut short the tour of her Parliamentary constituency and left for New Delhi.

Gandhi, who was scheduled to continue her mass-contact programme and visit villages of Dalmau and Sareni Assembly segments in the afternoon, left for New Delhi today morning Congress sources in Rae Bareli said.

It was unclear what prompted the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson to cut short her two-day visit. She was to remain in the constituency till the evening, they said.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi held a brief 'Janata Darshan' and interacted with the people of her constituency, listening to the problems they and assuring readdress.
