16 dead in attack on Iraqi Army recruitment center

Baghdad: Sixteen people were killed and 39 wounded when a suicide bomber wearing a belt of explosives blew himself up early Sunday (July 10, 2005) outside an Army recruitment centre in Baghdad, hospital and security sources said.

Most of the casualties were young men waiting to enlist.

The attack took place at the former Muthana airport recruitment center, which has already been targeted by suicide bombers.

In another attack earlier this month, this time on police commando recruits in Baghdad, 11 were killed and 22 wounded.
