Bihar polls: NDA embarks on 'Nyay yatra' tomorrow Sunday, July 10 2005 16:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
In its continued offensive against dissolution of the Bihar assembly by the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government, the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) leaders would embark on a three-and-a-half-month-long 'Nyay (justice) yatra' from tomorrow (July 11, 2005) to, what they term, expose the 'ulterior motive' of Centre, RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) chief Laloo Prasad and Governor Buta Singh behind the move.
"We will undertake the yatra starting from Bagha tomorrow and in its first leg, we will visit the district towns, including Bettiah, Motihari, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani and Darbhanga", NDA chief ministerial candidate Nitish Kumar told at a press conference in Patna. He said the yatra aimed at mobilising people's support for the coming assembly poll.
Senior leaders of JD-U (Janata Dal United), including George Fernandes and Sharad Yadav, besides State BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) President Sushil Kumar Modi would be participating in the yatra, he said.
"We have decided to launch the 'Nyay Yatra' against the injustice meted out to the people of the State by dissolving the assembly and thrusting upon them yet another election which will entail additional financial burden on the exchequer", he said.
He said the NDA campaign would highlight 'people's miseries' caused by the 'extremely alarming' power and drinking water problem, poor law and order, apathy towards development.
Describing President's rule as "an extension of RJD regime", Kumar said people would not forgive Laloo Prasad and the Congress for their 'misdeeds'.
"We will expose the RJD leader Laloo Prasad, Governor and UPA Government at the Centre for the miseries faced by Bihar people during the yatra", he said.
