MPs demand for resignation without substance: BJP Monday, July 11 2005 20:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (July 11, 2005) dismissed as "without any substance" the demand made by its MP that party chief L K Advani should resign from the post of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha for his controversial statement on M A Jinnah.
"The demand is without any substance," BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said when asked by reporters to comment on the demand made by Baliram Kashyap, Lok Sabha member from Chhattisgarh.
Kashyap had said in an interview that it was the opinion of the people that Advani should step down from the post of Leader of the Opposition for his remarks on Jinnah. He maintained that what Advani had said was "not good".
Earlier, another senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha had suggested Advani step down as Leader of the Opposition in the wake of his remarks on the Founder of Pakistan.
The former Union Minister, who had also attacked the performance of BJP
Government in Jharkhand was recently removed as the party spokesman.
