Another BJP leader demands Advani's resignation Monday, July 11 2005 10:48 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
After former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha, it is the turn of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Chhattisgarh Baliram Kashyap to demand the resignation of BJP chief L K Advani from the post of the Leader of the Opposition for his controversial reappraisal on M A Jinnah.
Asked if Advani should step down from his post, Kashyap told Zee TV, "this is the opinion of the people that he (Advani) should step down."
On whether Advani should also quit as leader of the opposition, he said, "I think so. It is not good what he said about Jinnah as the party chief and leader of the opposition. That is what I think. That is what Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been saying."
Asked if Advani was moving away from RSS's ideology, Kashyap, the Lok Sabha member from Chhattisgarh's Bastar region said, "no, he is not moving away but he should not have made that kind of statement (about Jinnah)."
"Having occupied such key posts, he (Advani) should not have made such remarks", he added.
Earlier, Sinha had suggested Advani step down as leader of the opposition in the wake of his remarks on Jinnah in Pakistan. The former Union Minister, who had also attacked the performance of BJP Government in Jharkhand, was recently removed as the party spokesman.
