RSS top leaders meet former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Monday, July 11 2005 13:32 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Top Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders led by General Secretary Mohan Bhagwat today (July 11, 2005) met former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee ahead of their crucial meeting with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President L K Advani, which is expected to prove decisive in the ties between the two organisations.

Bhagwat, accompanied by RSS Joint General Secretaries Madan Das Devi and Suresh Soni, spent about an hour with Vajpayee and are understood to have conveyed the Sangh's strong reservations about 'ideological erosion, behavioural misdemeanour and organisational indiscipline by some of the like-minded organisations.'

Sangh sources said the RSS leaders are understood to have conveyed their displeasure over Advani's controversial remarks pertaining to Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah, 'Akhand Bharat' and Ayodhya demolition which questioned the very ideology of the Sangh fountainhead.

Amid speculation including that Advani would be asked to step down, the Sangh leaders are scheduled to meet him later in the day and impress upon him the need for 'ideological course correction', the sources said.

BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Sanjay Joshi is also expected to take part in the talks.

Earlier, Advani held parleys with senior party leaders including Sushma Swaraj and Ananth Kumar.
