Petty crimes on the rise in Bihar, admits Governor Tuesday, July 12 2005 15:50 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Admitting that petty crimes across the state were on the rise in Bihar, Governor Buta Singh today (July 12, 2005) assured effective policing to bring the crimes under control soon.
''I am concerned over the rise in petty crimes across the state and have instructed Director General of Police and other concerned officials to take effective measures to bring it
under control", he told reporters here.
Singh also sought people's support in checking the petty crimes.
He, however, disagreed that law and order situation in Bihar had deteriorated in the recent past and said several notorious gang lords were caught recently.
On Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP MD Shahabuddin, ordered by Siwan District
Magistrate S K Mall to surrender before his court latest by July 15 or he be arrested and brought to his court, the Governor said ''I do not want to make any comment since the matter is sub-judice''.
To a question as to why the district administration has failed to nail Shahabuddin so far, Singh said ''I am not supposed to implement the warrant of arrest issued by the District Magistrate''.
The Governor said he believed in implementing the court orders and added that those policemen who had overstayed their places of posting would be shifted soon and a list of those policemen were being prepared at the headquarters.
