BJP leaders meet to discuss RSS-Advani standoff
Tuesday, July 12 2005 12:41 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: In the wake of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) demand that Lal Kishenchand Advani step down as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President, senior party leaders are meeting in Delhi today (July 12, 2005) to chalk out a strategy.

The Central office bearers, including the General Secretaries and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, are expected attend the meeting.

The second-rung leaders, who met yesterday (July 11, 2005), have been mediating between Advani and the Sangh leaders. Both Advani and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee expressed concern over the 'ideological erosion' that occurred during Advani's visit to Pakistan.

Advani will also attend today's (July 12, 2005) meeting, the sources said.
