Chhota Rajan gangsters remanded to PC till Jul 26

Mumbai: Two Chhota Rajan gangsters, held for their alleged involvement in JNPT arms smuggling case, were today (July 12, 2005) remanded to police custody till July 26 by a local court.

The alleged gangsters, Vicky Malhotra (35) and Fareed Tanasha (37), were arrested by city police in New Delhi yesterday (July 11, 2005).

On a tip-off that Malhotra and Tanasha had moved to Delhi, crime branch team from Mumbai had laid a trap and swooped on their hideouts, leading to their arrest.

Of them, Vicky Malhotra is a number two in the Chhota Rajan gang and used to look after Rajan's operations from Kolkata and abroad, police said.

Police said that Malhotra and Tanasha were involved in the smuggling of illegal weapons by the Rajan gang, recently seized at JNPT here.

Malhotra has 26 criminal cases against him, while Tanasha has nearly a dozen cases.
