Hizbul militant, J-K Govt official arrested in Delhi Tuesday, July 12 2005 10:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Delhi Police have arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen militant and a Jammu and Kashmir Government official who was allegedly involved in funding terrorist
activities.
Abdul Majid Bhatt of Hizbul Mujahideen was arrested by a team of southwest district police personnel from the New Delhi Railway Station when he was trying to escape to Nepal, police sources said today (July 12, 2005).
The arrest of Bhatt yesterday (July 11, 2005) is in connection with nabbing of four Islamic Front activists, including a militant and an ISI agent, on July 1 here, the sources told PTI.
The southwest district police team, meanwhile, arrested Mohammad Qayoom Khan, a J-K Government official in the Soil Conservation Department, from the Kashmir valley yesterday (July 11, 2005), they said.
Khan has been charged with involvement in funding militant activities through 'hawala', the sources said, adding he is believed to have been associated with ISI.
He had allegedly given a cheque for Rs 9.5 lakh to the Islamic Front activists and it was recovered from them during their arrest, they said.
The recoveries made from the Hizbul Mujahideen militant included one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 130 cartridges of AK rifles, two Chinese hand grenades, 13 Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGL), three detonators and one
radio set, they added.
