Consortium allows conducting CET for MQ in TN
Sunday, July 17 2005 14:09 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Chennai: The Consortium of Self Financing Professional Arts and Sciences Colleges has been authorised by a Permanent Committee for conduct of Common Entrance Test (CET) to hold the test for Management Quota seats (MQ) to undergraduate engineering courses in Tamil Nadu for the academic year 2005-06.

The committee, under the chairmanship of Justice (Retd) S S Subramani, chose the consortium, headed by educationist Jeppiar, after 143 engineering colleges in the state informed the committee that they favoured conduct of CET by the consortium.

At its meeting held on Thursday (July 14, 2005), the committee held that "for the above reason, it will only be proper to permit or authorise the consortium to hold CET for undergraduate engineering courses for the academic year 2005-06 for the entire Tamil Nadu".

Meanwhile, Jeppiar told reporters here that the CET would be held throughout the country on August six and seven to fill up over 33,000 seats.

For the convenience of students in North and East India, the exams would be held at Delhi and Kolkata also, besides in several centres in Kerala, he said.

Stating that applications would be issued from July 18, he said applications would be available on the consortium website.
