CBI gives warrants for production of Telgi in court Tuesday, July 19 2005 16:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Pune:
The CBI today (July 19, 2005) submitted warrants issued by a metropolitan court in Delhi for production of Abdul Karim Telgi, prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper case, and three others before it on July 22 to respond to charges regarding sale of counterfeit stamp papers, registered at Daryagunj police station in 2001.
However, in an application in Special MCOCA court in Pune, Harshad Nimbalkar, counsel for Telgi, sought time to file a say on the application by CBI, which wanted court's permission to arrest him (Telgi) and others -- Laxman Maruti Tirvir, Pramod Mahadev Janvekar and Mohammed Issak Singoti, already in judicial custody in Bund Garden case, to take them to Delhi.
Nimbalkar submitted in an application that since Telgi was unable to give him any instruction on the Daryaganj case immediately, it would not be possible for him to file a say on the CBI's application filed in the MCOCA court on July 16 and therefore his prayer for more time be allowed.
The CBI had made a prayer before the Special MCOCA court to allow it to place Telgi and the three others under arrest so as to take them to Delhi for production before the metropolitan court there for their police remand in connection with the case pertaining to sale of counterfeit stamp papers worth Rs 61,81,190 registered by one Vikas Gupta at Daryaganj police station in 2001.
