New Delhi:
A high-level committee tasked to assess security arrangements at important religious places in the country in the wake of the terrorist attack at Ayodhya would submit its report on August 6, Home Minister Shivraj Patil said today (July 19, 2005).
"It is the Centre's responsibility to protect places of worship across the country. We have started thinking in that direction and soon a report will be brought out in this regard," he told reporters after meeting a delegation of VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) leaders in New Delhi.
He said the panel which was tasked with assessing security in religious places across the country would submit its report on August 6 and the Centre would initiate action on the basis of its recommendations.
Everybody, including religious leaders, should work together to foil the design of terrorists and to maintain an atmosphere of religious amity in the country, he added.
