UPA Government soft towards terrorism says BJP Wednesday, July 20 2005 14:26 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Condemning the car bomb blast in Srinagar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (July 20, 2005) charged the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government with failure to contain terrorism and demanded that Army be given a freehand to deal with the menace.
"Almost every day there is a terrorist incident. Government has failed to contain terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country," BJP Deputy Leader in
Lok Sabha V K Malhotra said.
Claiming that even the national capital has become the 'den of terrorists,' he said, "The Congress-led coalition appears to be more concerned about 7/7 and 9/11 but is so soft towards terrorism that they have even repealed POTA."
Accusing the Government of not raising with Pakistan the issue of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) activities or the terrorist infrastructure in that country, he demanded that Army be given a freehand to deal with terrorism.
Malhotra said BJP would raise the issue of terrorism in a 'befitting manner' in the coming session of Parliament.
