New Delhi:
A day after abduction-cum-rape of a 23-year-old woman in Mayapuri in Southwest Delhi, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the local police station was today (July 21, 2005) shunted out.
Inspector Samay Singh was transferred to Delhi Armed Police, police sources said. He has been replaced by Inspector Iqbal of Traffic Police, they said.
The woman was abducted by four men from Mayapuri area yesterday and was allegedly gang raped by them in a moving car. She was later dumped in Pitampura area of the city. She was then taken to a hospital where medical examination confirmed rape.
Seriously concerned over the alleged rape, Home Minister Shivraj Patil today summoned Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul to enquire about investigations into such cases in the recent past.
