Ensure implementation of tribunal award: AIADMK Friday, July 22 2005 17:03 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

The ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Khazhagam (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu today (July 22, 2005) organized demonstrations in front of Central Government offices in the state, protesting the center's 'inaction' in prevailing upon Karnataka to release Cauvery water as per the interim award of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal.
In the city, the protestors led by the party's organizing secretary Visalakshi Nedunchezhiyan, shouted slogans in front of the Customs House demanding that the center ensure implementation of interim award in letter and spirit.
As per the award, Karnataka should release 205-tmc ft of water annually to Tamil Nadu.
Visalakshmi, addressing the gathering, said all the twelve ministers from Tamil Nadu in the Dr Manmohan Singh Government should quit their posts if they were unable to prevail upon the Prime Minister to take action in this regard.
Reports of such demonstrations had been received from Vellore, Coimbatore and Tuticorin.
In Vellore, Gokulam Indira, MP, led the demonstration, while at Coimbatore Dr Venugopal, party's medical wing secretary led the protest.
