Ilavarasi, one of the accused in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate asset case filed against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and four others today filed an application before the Special Court praying for her discharge.
N Jyoti, counsel for Ilavarasi, the accused No. 4, submitted that the documents being relied upon by the prosecution in the case against his client were "unauthorized, uncertified and hence inadmissible in law" while seeking her discharge in the case.
Public Prosecutor B V Acharya, opposed the application contending that the ground cited by the defense counsel for Ilavarasi discharge cannot be taken at this stage, as lot of evidence had already been collected against the accused.
Acharya also filed an application to the effect that a revised chargesheet has to be filed before the court against Jayalalitha and T T V Dinakaran, following the clubbing of the London Hotel case with the main asset case.
The Special Court Judge A S Pachhapure adjourned the hearing to tomorrow. Sashikala Natarajan and V N Sudhakaran are the other accused in the case.
