Thiruvananthapuram:
Security has been stepped up in all the three airports in the state in view of the arrest of two foreign nationals with fake passports at the Thiruvananthapuram airport last evening (July 21, 2005).
Police and intelligence personnel were continuing interrogation of the two, an Iranian and Afghan national, who claimed they were on their way to London via Doha, police sources said.
The foreigners, identified as Jumar Khan from Afghanistan and Syed Dawoud Hashmi from Iran, were sent back from Doha to where they had flown from here, they said.
While the Iranian held a South African passport, the Afghan national had an Israeli passport.
They were said to have arrived here by train from Delhi for flying to Doha and from there to catch a connecting flight to London, sources said.
They were suspected to have obtained fake passports from an agent in Delhi. During interrogation, they claimed that they were on their way to London in search of job. They are expected to be produced in the court later in the day.
