Stamp scam: CBI files supplementary chargesheet

New Delhi: CBI today (July 22, 2005) filed supplementary chargesheet in a fake stamp paper case before the Delhi Court levelling fresh allegations of counterfeiting Government stamp against its kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi and 18 others.

The agency also slapped two additional charges of possessing instrument for counterfeiting stamp and criminal conspiracy against them.

The chargesheet was filed before the designated court of Metropolitan Magistrate S S Rathi, who asked the prosecution to supply the copy of chargesheet to the defence counsel and fixed August 5 for consideration and argument on framing of charges.

This is the third supplementary chargesheet against Telgi. The agency has charged him under section 255 (counterfeiting government stamp), 256 (possessing instrument for counterfeiting stamp and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code.

When asked by the MM about Telgi, who is presently lodged in Yerrawada Jail in Pune, the agency said that production warrant issued by this court was served on July 20 to the jail authority there (Pune).

CBI said an application seeking to arrest Telgi in connection with the case registered in Delhi was pending before the Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Court in Pune.
